American Integrative Medical Association

Mission Statement

A Not For Profit-Public Service professional certification and credentialing agency for medical practitioners of Integrative Medicine and Health Care as defined by the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine and The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Mission of the American Integrative Medical Association is to enhance the public trust in the quality of complementary and alternative health care delivery in the United States. The creation of the American Integrative Medical Association provides a clearinghouse and registry for practitioners and establishes a creditable database of qualified practitioners and the development of a bonafide natural health and wellness product authentication system used to verify health related claims relative to the use of herbs and other natural substances.

Credentialing and Authentication forms a basis in which practitioners, business professionals and the public can gain the self-assurance needed in today’s competitive market. Patients, consumers and businesses will make decisions based on creditable references from one reliable source as the American Integrative Medical Association. It is believed this service will undoubtly improve complementary and alternative heath care delivery, improve public confidance, and create increased opportunities for greater insurance reimbursement for services rendered and practice legislation in states which remain resistant to alternative health care licensure.

In carrying out these activities the American Integrative Medical Association is responsive to change and innovations in education, current practices, and new treatment modalities. The American Integrative Medical Association promotes the use of effective measurement tools, peer review standards, the faculty- staff of the University of Integrative Health Sciences, professional laboratories including the resources of the National Institutes of Health. The American Integrative Medical Association mandates stringent principles to assess the professional competencies of complementary and alternative health care clinicians and practitioners, clinical facilities, educational programs and the bona fide content, affect and effect of herbal and natural products.
